Alpha Drift Meditation
Alpha Drift Meditation is a low, slow pad that swells and falls without arriving anywhere. Nothing is struck or plucked across the loop and there is very little on top, so it fills a room more like a distant engine than like music. The alpha in the name refers to a band of brain activity, which is not a sound and is not in the file.

What the loop contains
Most of the weight is underneath, and almost nothing survives at the top, less than either flute or the guitar loop here carries. It swells rather than sitting flat, and the two channels differ enough to give it some width. Headphones make the movement obvious; speakers flatten it.
Nothing is hit anywhere across the loop. That makes it one of the better things here to leave running for an hour, because there is no event to notice and then keep noticing.
What “alpha” refers to
Alpha waves are electrical activity in the 8 to 12 Hz range, recorded from the scalp with an EEG and strongest when someone is awake with their eyes closed. That is a measurement of the brain, not a frequency you can play through a speaker. Human hearing starts around 20 Hz, so nothing in the alpha band is audible at all.
Some files try to render such rates as a binaural beat, splitting two close tones between the ears. This is not one of them: both its channels share most of their content, where the Schumann files here send a separate tone to each ear. There is no per-ear split in this pad, and no claim that listening produces alpha activity would survive checking. What it is good for
Judged as music, it does what a low ambient pad does: fills a room without asking for attention. It covers low rumble reasonably and speech badly, because it has almost no energy in the band where speech sits. If a colleague through the wall is the problem, broadband brown noise is the better tool.
