Inside Slo

Build the sound your room needs.

If rain on its own is not covering what you can hear, you can put steady noise under it and set how loud each sound is until the balance works for your room.

Open the free mixer

It runs in your browser, and there is no account to make.

Here is rain with a little brown noise under it.

Press play, then move the volumes until it sounds right for the room you are in.

01 / Sound mixing

You start with one sound and add to it.

Noise colors and nature recordings sit in one library in the browser mixer. Select a sound to add it, and select it again once you can hear that it is not helping.

One sound is enough on most nights. On a bad one you can run two or three together, which covers more of what is coming through the wall.

Follow the six-step mixing guide →

02 / Volume controls

You decide how loud each sound is.

Every sound you add keeps its own volume, so you can bring the brown noise down when it feels muddy and leave the rain where it was. The master volume takes the whole mix down at once, which is what you want when the room has gone quiet.

Move the two volumes above and you will hear how small a change it takes to shift the balance.

03 / Sleep timer

Choose when the sound stops.

The full browser mixer has 15, 30 and 60 minute timers, so you do not have to get up later to turn the sound off. Pick a length and the countdown sits beside the controls. If you are still awake when it runs down, cancel it and keep listening.

04 / Ready-made mixes

Start with a blend, then change it.

Each of these opens with its sounds and volumes already set, so you can press play without deciding anything first. Keep that balance, or change any part of it in the mixer.
